Greece is said to be located at
the crossroads of Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa and
has land borders with Albania, the Republic of Macedonia, and Bulgaria
to the north and Turkey to the northeast. The Aegean Sea lies to
the east of mainland Greece, the Ionian Sea to the west, and the
Mediterranean Sea to the south. Greece has the 11th longest coastline
in the world at about 8,498 miles in length, featuring about 1300
islands including Crete, the Dodecanese, the Cyclades, and the Ionian
Islands among others. About 200 of these islands are inhabited.
Modern Greece traces its roots to the civilization
of Ancient Greece, generally considered the cradle of Western civilization.
As such, it is the birthplace of democracy, Western philosophy,
the Olympic Games, Western literature and historiography among others.
Greece Yacht Charters - A majority
of all yacht charters in Greece will take place in the Cyclades
Islands, the Saronic gulf and the Ionian Islands.
The Cyclades islands, with varying sizes, are located
in the Aegean Sea Region. Some of these islands are well-known both
to the public at large and the international yacht charter vacationer
, while some remain little known and some uninhabited. As a charter
destination the Cyclades is perfect for Greece
power yacht charters. |
